Confirm the Grade and Plate Specification

ASTM B265 covers annealed titanium and titanium-alloy strip, sheet and plate. Its Grade 1 designation is UNS R50250 and Grade 2 is UNS R50400. State the grade, product form, required edition and condition in the order. Review the official ASTM B265 scope; a specification mentioned on this page does not by itself establish conformity of a particular batch.

Does commercially pure titanium mean 100% pure titanium?
Commercially pure grades are unalloyed titanium designations with specified composition limits. Use the grade and material specification to define the order.

Can Grade 1 and Grade 2 plates be interchanged?
Do not substitute grades solely because both are commercially pure titanium. Confirm the design, forming and material acceptance requirements with the purchaser.

Does an industrial titanium plate listing describe a finished surgical plate?
No. This page concerns raw material for fabrication. Medical material requirements and downstream device requirements must be defined separately.

What documents should accompany a plate order?
Agree on material test records, heat/lot identification, dimensional checks and any purchaser-specific inspection before ordering.
